On "Monster In-Laws" (Mon., 10 p.m. ET on A&E) Monday night viewers met Chris and his adoptive mother Pat. She didn't like his wife and as relationship expert Mel Robbins talked to the pair she realized their problems were deeper than that.
When he was a child Pat used to threaten to return Chris back to Social Services, and Robbins was aghast when she heard this.
"When you say to a kid you've adopted, 'I'll take you back,'" she said, "it is the cruelest thing I've ever heard come out of the mouth of a parent."
Chris and Pat were eventually reunited with his birth mother, Flo, and there was another surprising revelation. "Thank you so much for letting us be part of his life," a tearful Pat told Flo, "and raising him, because I wanted a baby so much."
The family dramas continue on "Monster In-Laws," Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on A&E.
