The team over at "Katie," Katie Couric's upcoming daytime talk show, released its first big promo on Tuesday.
The video, titled "This Is Katie," features the former "Today" host walking on the beach, reminiscing with old friends, and spending time with her two daughters. Couric narrates most of the video with a candid conversation about her "insatiable curiosity," losing her husband to colon cancer, and being a single mother. "I feel like I have a lot in common with viewers," Couric says. "I feel like they're my friends."
It also includes cameos of executive producer and former NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker, Ryan Seacrest, Sheryl Crow and Kelly Ripa.
"What we're going to do is take Katie back to the Katie that everyone knew and everyone fell in love with. Our goal is to let Katie, be Katie," Zucker says.
"She smiles, you smile back. It's just the greatest smile," Ripa adds.
According to TVNewser, the video is part of a larger rebranding effort, which also includes an overhaul of KatieCouric.com. "Katie" debuts on September 10, 2012.
