The Oprah Winfrey Network posted some good news on Tuesday.
The cable network that once struggled to find an audience turned a profit, Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced. According to Deadline, Zaslav told analysts that OWN beat its forecast and "is now cash flow positive." He reportedly attributed the success to the higher rate distributors pay for OWN and to Tyler Perry's scripted dramas.
OWN turning a profit is just the latest in a string of positive announcements for the cable network. Earlier this month, the network posted its best quarter ratings since its debut in January 2011. The ratings success was due, in part, to Perry's scripted drama, "The Haves and The Have Nots," which premiered in May and became the highest rated series premiere in network history.
The network will also begin shooting a docu-series on Lindsay Lohan, and Oprah will conduct the actor's first interview post rehab.
