Although her acting chops made her an instant hit on "Shake It Up," Zendaya is truly a dancer at heart. She plays one on the mega-popular Disney show, and her high-scoring stint on "Dancing With the Stars" made her a household name. Naturally, the star also knows a thing or two about stylish activewear -- she recently teamed up with the NFL to launch a seriously rad line of apparel that'll please football fans and fashionistas alike.
We grabbed a few moments with the triple threat during her photo shoot to get the scoop on her fall fashion essentials, starring role on Shake It Up, and highly-anticipated album.
As the new face of NFL apparel, we have to ask: Do you have a favorite football team?
Definitely the Raiders! They do struggle, but I'm from Oakland, California, so technically I have to love them.
You've got a lot of style on and off the red carpet. What's your secret to making a statement?
When it comes to the red carpet, I want to wear the things that people are only thinking about wearing -- before everyone else does it. You know when you put together a look that doesn't seem like it'll work at first, but then you actually try it on and it's like magic? That's what I go for.
Any wardrobe must-haves?
In my personal life, I'm more of a tomboy, so I think every girl needs a good pair of leather sweatpants. They're so comfortable, and you can dress them up with heels like Rihanna does, or down with some tennis shoes.
What's your advice for the perfect first-day-of-school outfit?
Never wear your best outfit on the first day. The first week of school will come and go, and before you know it, you'll be back to all of your regular clothes. So my number-one tip is to always mix new pieces with your old stuff so that everything looks new. It'll expand your wardrobe and make your new clothes last longer, too!
What do you have coming up this fall?
My single "Replay" just came out, so that's a really big deal! The video will premiere mid-August, and the album will drop in September, which is very exciting. Plus, I have a book coming out, too!
Wow, you're busy! What's it like doing all of that while working on "Shake It Up"?
It's a lot of fun, and kind of like school -- in a good way. We learn so much every day on set. We eat lunch together, do fun stuff, and even have a secret candy drawer! It's such a positive environment, and we like to keep it that way.
You also made a big splash on another hit TV show, "Dancing With the Stars." Do you plan to keep ballroom dancing, too?
I would love to! I have a newfound passion for it. It took so much more than I expected and is a lot harder than people think. I don't know when I'll have time, but I definitely want to keep it up.
