Caroline Manzo Talks Teresa Giudice Legal Scandal

Caroline Manzo addressed the legal troubles making headlines about her "Real Housewives of New Jersey" co-star, Teresa Giudice, during her visit to the clubhouse on "Watch What Happens: Live." Giudice, and her husband Joe, were charged last week by a federal grand jury with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bakruptcy fraud in a 39-count indictment. All told, the couple is facing as much as 50 years in prison.

“I can’t even wrap my head around it," Caroline told host Andy Cohen. "I think for me, and the Manzo family, our position is just going to be, stay quiet, because it is just too big and too serious for the peanut gallery.”

Caroline did say that she texted with Teresa on the day of the indictment, but that those texts will remain private between them. Other stars of the "Real Housewives" franchise have had more to say about the scandal.

"Miami" star Lea Black told People magazine, "Reality TV, I've always said – brings out the best – and the worst in everybody." The magazine also spoke with former "New York" housewife, Jill Zarin, who said, "Many reality stars are naïve if they think that anything that they've done in the past won't be scrutinized. Being a reality star comes with the good and the bad.’”

While those two women expressed sympathy for Teresa, Bethenny Frankel wasn't nearly so sympathetic. She told Us Weekly, "[It]'s just funny how certain people are [like a] moth to a flame ... people who love to be in the spotlight often have a lot of skeletons in their closet ... Do I feel sorry for them? No, I don't. Not so much, because it broke the law. You broke the law and you went on television. That's not really that smart."

Despite her legal trouble, Teresa will still be involved in the upcoming "Real Housewives of New Jersey" reunion. She will not be able to discuss the case, however, which will probably drive Andy crazy!

Catch Teresa Giudice on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. The same network airs "Watch What Happens: Live" every Sunday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET.
