Tom Hanks Turned Benedict Cumberbatch Into A Star With 2006 Film 'Starter For 10'

Turns out, Tom Hanks has quite a knack for finding future British heartthrobs.

In an interview with Radio Times, Hanks talked about producing a British film, "Starter For 10," which starred James McAvoy, and featured Benedict Cumberbatch.

Though Cumberbatch had TV credits before the film, "Starter for 10" was one of his first motion pictures. Hanks said, "With every British actor who has since become a huge star! We had James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch in his first or second movie, Rebecca Hall – it was definitely her first movie. We even had that guy – James Corden? Right. It was like a Murderers’ Row of British up-and-comers."

Hanks also admitted he has a soft spot for British TV, citing "Doctor Who" as a childhood favorite. We bet he's pretty psyched to have discovered the man who ignited Britain with "Sherlock."
