Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) defended her family on Facebook nearly a week after reports claimed they were involved in a fistfight at an Alaska birthday party that police say involved around 20 people.
The former vice presidential candidate didn't address the alleged fight directly, but praised her children.
“I love my Bristol! My straight-shooter is one of the strongest young women you'll ever meet. I have to say this as a proud mama: right up there with their work ethic and heart for those less fortunate, my kids' defense of family makes my heart soar!” Palin said Friday in a post that was accompanied by several family photos, including one of Bristol firing a gun.
“As you can imagine, they and my extended family have experienced so many things (liberal media-driven) that may have crushed others without a strong foundation of faith, and I'm thankful for our friends' prayer shield that surrounds them, allowing faith to remain their anchor.”
According to the Alaska Dispatch News, the fight allegedly began when Palin’s son Track approached his sister Willow’s ex-boyfriend. The two began fighting, and Todd Palin and the ex-boyfriend’s father are said to have joined the melee.
When the host of the party asked the Palin’s to leave, Bristol Palin allegedly punched him in the face. One party guest told Good Morning America that he heard Sarah Palin scream out, "Do you know who I am?"
