In a truly impressive casting coup, Showtime has landed Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman to star in a comedy pilot.
The Capote and Hunger Games: Catching Fire actor will executive produce and star in Trending Down, playing Thom Payne, a man facing his own obsolescence after his advertising agency is taken over. The pilot is described by the network as "a blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture, and a darkly comic examination of what it means to matter. Or matter not." This marks Hoffman's first TV series regular gig.
