Camille Grammer Undergoes Hysterectomy For Endometrial Cancer

Camille Grammer underwent a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with endometrial cancer, her rep confirms to People.

The former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star, 45, is recovering after the procedure, which took place on Oct. 11.

"She underwent a radical hysterectomy today," her rep, Howard Bragman, told People yesterday. "The surgery went well and she is expected to make a complete recovery following a significant recuperation period."

Grammer has two children via surrogate with her ex-husband, actor Kelsey Grammer, and was at an elevated risk for cancer due to genetic issues, Bragman explained.

"[She] has been diligent about regular checkups and monitoring," he added, "which explains the early detection and rapid treatment."

Endometrial cancer, which affects the lining of the uterus, is the most common cancer of the female reproductive system, according to Health.com. The causes of the disease are not known and there is no reliable screening system to detect it, but risk factors include hormone imbalance, high blood pressure and diabetes.

"Ms. Grammer expresses gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals who have taken such loving and nurturing care of her," her rep told People. "She urges all women to be aware of genetic factors relating to women's cancers and get regular checkups."
