The 2 'Birdman' Scenes That Led To Michael Keaton 'Reliving' His Own Career

Michael Keaton's riveting work in "Birdman" is being called the best of his career, but the film has prompted endless comparisons to Keaton's past. His starring role in Tim Burton's "Batman" films and his decision to turn down $15 million for a third installment is, in many ways, parallel to his "Birdman" character, who also walked away from a superhero sequel at the height of his fame.

Keaton told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Wednesday that he focused more on the themes of "Birdman" -- ego, legacy, family -- than its connection to his own career. But there were two scenes that actually did feel like they came out of Keaton's biography, the actor said.

"[Those scenes are] the only times I can say, 'Oh man, this is like, forget it, don't even rehearse this. This is like I'm reliving a couple moments of my life,'" he said.

Check out the video above to find out what they are and see Keaton's frank take on the obsession with the meta humor in "Birdman."
